Emerging architects: apply for the 2009 ARCHITECT-IN-RESIDENCE program at SUPERFRONT. Submit your CV, portfolio, and brief project proposal to info@superfront.org with subject “RESIDENCY” by June 25th. The residency offers emerging architects an opportunity to develop a project for exhibition, publication or construction. Materials are available through the generous support of Material for the Arts (MFTA). Residents will share responsibility for developing a fundraising program to fund their projects beyond materials available at MFTA. Project budgets are not expected to exceed $500. Live-in residency is available in the newly renovated lofted studios for $675/month including utilities. 3-6 month terms.
The Residency Program at SUPERFRONT for Fiscal Year 2009 formalizes an ad hoc program of interdisciplinary exhibition and collaboration that emerged at SUPERFRONT in 2008. The program consists of facilities and resources for two Architects-in-Residence and one Artist-in-Residence. Our first Artist-in-Residence is multi-media artist Sienna Shields Horton. This residency, from March 2009 through September 2009, entails Horton’s large-scale crochet work, furniture explorations and architectural photography with a related exhibit at the SUPERFRONT gallery opening July 12. Two Architects-in-Residence will join SUPERFRONT for a six month term from June 2009 through December 2009. The overlapping summer engagements open the possibility for interdisciplinary collaboration, which is a hallmark of the SUPERFRONT mission.
