Employé Du Moi & Samandal proudly host a “Workshop in Storytelling for Comics” by Belgian comic artist and professor, Stéphane Nöel.
The workshop will start on Tuesday (June 30) at 10am at Masra7 Al Madina (Hamra) and will continue until 5.00pm (with a break for lunch, of course). This day will be the most important, covering a lot of material and will start with a focus on classical dramaturgical construction (characters, relation and structure) and then develop into more modern narrative approaches, peppered with exercises the participants will partake in. The next two days (Wednesday and Thursday) will be shorter, beginning at 5pm and ending at 8pm.
We expect around 40 artists and writers to participate (some coming from Syria and Jordan especially for this event) and hope that this will pave the way for stronger comics and future collaborations amongst the participants.
Finally, the issue 5 launch party will be on Friday at 7pm, where readers of all breeds can mingle and drool over the latest in greatness from Samandal.
The workshop will be in English (Stéphane also speaks fluent French but most of the workshop will be in English).
employé du moi is an independent comic collective and publishing house based in Brussels, Belgium.
This workshop is for free thanks to the support of WBi and Beirut Book Capital of 2009.
