Bedminster, NJ. The Center for Contemporary Art is announcing a juried competition “Art in Architecture” to celebrate its inauguration as the new art center in New Jersey, replacing the 40 year old Somerset Art Association in the fall 2010 “Art in Architecture” intends to generate ideas about the relationship and interaction between the two. The thematic goal is to seek images about architecture as a repository for art, revealing how art is expressed in architecture, and how art and architecture affect and are affected by each other. In focusing on the capacity of art and architecture to be transcendent, this exhibition will add special voice to the current debate between the ‘container’ and the ‘contents’ that has been taking place across the globe. This is an open competition; individuals and groups are eligible. There is a $75 non-refundable entry fee. JURORS: Michael Graves, Architect, FAIA; James Christen Steward, PhD., Director of the Art Museum at Princeton University and Sassona Norton, Sculptor. AWARDS $6,000.
