Graffiti stimulates your feeling for shape, colour and creativity, it is any type of public markings that may appear in the forms of simple written words to elaborate wall paintings. Graffiti has existed since ancient times, with examples dating back to Ancient Greece and the Roman Empire. In modern times, spray paint, normal paint and markers have become the most commonly used materials.

You will get introduced to graffiti basics, history and terminology. We will work on the basics of letter design, both Arabic and Latin. Then we will discuss coloring techniques (color theory, blending colors…). After that we will learn all about graffiti techniques (effects, rendering…), how to add style and graffiti shapes such as arrows and hook-ups. In a few sessions you will have the skills to convert your creativity into action. You can always have extra themes and projects to work by yourself, to present to class and discuss it.

About the Trainer – Yazan Halwani
Interested in the urban culture and street arts Yazan got involved in the underground hip hop culture. He started off in Khat Ahmar the Lebanese rap crew where he composed music, wrote lyrics and produced music for other crews. After that, Yazan started tagging walls, and now he is one of the youngest graffiti artists in the Middle East. He is currently customizing walls in Bedrooms houses and shops, as well as canvases, shoes and bags. He has developed a unique new style by combining Arabic calligraphy and arabesques with urban western graffiti styles.
