The Federation of Canadian Artists is calling for artists for its 8th Annual Painting on the Edge exhibition. The juried exhibition is an open call for artists from all over the world to submit original prints and drawings in any media. The exhibition holds $8000 in prizes for winning artists.

Call for Photographers: the Canon AIPP APPAs’

Entries are now being called for Australia’s most prestigious and recognised professional photography competition, ‘the Canon AIPP APPAs’. The Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) is calling on all professional photographers nationally to prepare and submit their entries.
Entries for the Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards (‘APPAs’) will be received from 19 April up until Wednesday 26th May 4.30pm (online) with print submissions received up until 5.00pm, Friday 28th May 2010. To enter the Canon AIPP APPAs, photographers must register online first.
Entries are subject to three intense days of judging undertaken by some of Australia’s most recognised photographers. Each entry is individually scored via a scrupulous peer-review judging process to determine the highest-scoring prints across the different categories.
Judging for the awards will take place from 4th-7th June in Melbourne with the winner announced at the prestigious Canon AIPP APPAs dinner to be held at Crown Casino, Southbank in Melbourne on Monday 7th June 2010.
Now in their 34th year, the APPAs attract a prize pool of more than $40,000 in cash and prizes including the grand prize – $20,000 worth of Canon EOS professional digital camera equipment and the coveted title of 2010 Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photographer of the Year.
Last year 2,367 images were entered by 655 professional and student photographers in the renowned awards.
The Canon AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards are a celebration of photographic excellence and represent the best of the best in Australian professional photography.

Call for Artists: Xstrata Percival Portrait Award
Deadline: 23 July 2010, Open to artists from throughout Australia
Xstrata Percival Portrait Award is delivered to you by International Art Services. It is north Queensland’s premier portrait prize, with a main prize of $20,000 acquisitive. Andrew Sayers, Director of the National Portrait Gallery, has agreed to judge the award.
Artists may enter one artwork only. The portrait is to be of a ‘real’ person. It is expected the subject of the work has sat for the artist.
In order to enter, you must indicate some link with Townsville, however tenuous (artist, sitter, item in the work, etc.) Sculpture, digital media, photography and textiles are not eligible.

Call for Artists : ARchiTecture (art+architecture) Residency
Deadline: Open Call, Ghana, West Africa
Project is a part of the foundation’s arts village at Abetenim in the Ashanti Region of Ghana (about 15 minutes from Kumasi). Residencies now available for artistic persons or teams in the fields of architecture, engineering and the arts that include visual arts, literary arts, performing arts, design, new media/ film production, arts history, arts criticism, arts education, arts administration and curatorship.
The task of the ARchiTecture residency is to design, build and test-live in low budget and quality "live-work shelter" with earth and other materials from the environment.
In the construction, participants will be assisted by a local master builder and local laborers.
Length of project residencies is usually from 3 to 12 months.
Deadline: Ongoing but apply 2 months in advance of residency.
A complete application should include your CV/ resumé along with:
(1) the budget
(2) drawings / sketches of proposed project
(3) the work plan, and
(4) a portrait photo of applicant.

Call for Photographers : Syngenta Photo Prize 2010

The Syngenta Photo Prize 2010 seeks outstanding images of plants, landscapes, communities and technologies in the context of global agriculture. The Photo Prize is open to Australian and international photographers.
First, second and third prizes of $8000, $5000 and $3000 respectively are sponsored by Canon, a world-leading innovator and provider of imaging solutions. Open to amateur and professional photographers, entries can be submitted between 20thJanuary and 20th June.
A website dedicated to the photo prize will feature the ongoing submissions and showcase winners and entries from previous years.

Call for Artists: 2010 Artists in Residency

Applications are now being accepted for the 2010 at La Macina di San Cresci We are located above Greve in Chianti in the heart of Tuscany, between two great cities of the Renaissance: Florence & Siena.
The artist residency program provides the ideal combination of living and working in a setting of truly inspirational beauty. Artist residency consists of sojourning from 7 to 90 days, with a possible time extension subject to availability.
This period covers a program based on the personal project proposal presented. As an archive of activities is scheduled to publish a yearbook representative of the various experiences hosted and produced using photos and texts of artists and events.
The artists with a special interesting project have a public event that offer a venue to test their ideas in a dialog with other artists, and the general public.
Help will be given from La Macina di San Cresci staff to organize a local exhibition on a theme related to their Residency project.
